Carlo Dusi was the Executive Producer of two Random Harvest features produced during 2002: “Octane” – directed by Marcus Adams and starring Madeleine Stowe, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Bijou Phillips, Mischa Barton and Norman Reedus, for a budget of US$12 million
“LD50” – directed by Simon De Selva and starring Tom Hardy, Kate Towne and former Spice Girl Melanie Brown (a.k.a. Scary Spice), for a budget of US$8 million.
In 2003, Carlo then executive produced Peter Greenaway’s feature trilogy “The Tulse Luper Suitcases”, the first of which (“The Moab Story”) was selected for the official competition at the Cannes Film Festival 2003 and a further episode from which was screened as a special event out of competition at (amongst others) the Cambridge, Venice and Toronto Film Festivals 2003. The trilogy was produced by Kees Kasander and stars a cast of 92 actors including JJ Feild, Isabella Rossellini, Jordi Molla, Caroline Dhavernas, Ornella Muti, Franka Potente and Deborah Harry, for a total budget of EURO 10 million.
In the same year, Carlo was also the Executive Producer of the Tyne Tallin Digital Challenge, a slate of six short films co-produced between the United Kingdom and Estonia and launched at the first Northern Lights Film Festival in Newcastle in September 2003, some of which have since gone on to be awarded a number of significant international prizes.
In 2004, Carlo co-produced the $18 million adventure trilogy “Treasure Island Kids” starring Randy Quaid, as well as Darko Mitrevski’s Italian/Macedonian co-production “Bal Kan Kan”, and executive produced Tim Disney’s Venice-set thriller “Tempesta”, which started shooting in early April 2004 for producer Kees Kasander and stars Malcolm McDowell, Rutger Hauer, Natalia Verbeke, Valentina Cervi and Scot Williams, whereas in 2005 he executive produced 2004 Oscar nominee Ben Sombogaart’s English-language debut “Crusade in Jeans”, starring Emily Watson, Benno Furmann, Joe Flynn, Michael Culkin and Stephanie Leonidas, which premiered in the Generation section of the 2007 Berlin International Film Festival.
In 2006, Carlo embarked on the production of Aria’s first own developed feature, “Kill Kill Faster Faster”, marking the debut of leading commercial and pop promo director Gareth Roberts and starring Gil Bellows, Lisa Ray and Esai Morales, which is now completed. In the same year, Carlo also co-produced Peter Greenaway’s latest feature “Nightwatching”, starring Martin Freeman as Dutch painter Rembrandt alongside Eva Birthistle, Jodhi May, Emily Holmes, Natalie Press and Toby Jones.
Carlo is currently in post-production alongside Douglas Cummins’s Axiom Films International on award-winning TV director Sallie Aprahamian’s feature debut “Broken Lines” starring Paul Bettany and Olivia Williams alongside Dan Fredenburgh and Doraly Rosen. Carlo is also in post-production on 2000 Academy Award nominee Paul Morrison’s “Little Ashes”, starring Robert Pattinson, Matthew McNulty and Javier Beltran.
Carlo’s other activities involve featuring as a guest lecturer on film financing and production at a number of institutions including Bath University, Leeds Metropolitan University, and the University of Central London, Carlo has spoken at various industry panels at events ranging from the 58th Venice Film Festival in September 2001 to the Cannes Film festival IELA conferences in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Carlo is also a regular guest lecturer at the Metropolitan Film School in Ealing Studios, where he runs their Part-Time Producing Courses as well as the Contemporary Industry module of their Film BA, and has spoken at a number of institutions including BAFTA and ARISTA.
In May 2006, Carlo was appointed to the role of Film Business Advisor to the industry’s skill sector council Skillset, and subsequently also became one of the approved European Commission Media Programme assessors for single-project and slate development funding applications. Finally, Carlo consults on a regular basis for a number of industry operators ranging from producers and sales agents to financiers and talent, and in particular has recently been appointed as the UK representative for leading Rome studios Cinecitta.’
21 April 2008 - The debut feature by writer/director Gareth Maxwell Roberts “Kill Kill Faster Faster” was awarded the prestigious prize for Best International Feature Film at the 2008 London Independent Film festival on Friday 18 April 2008. Full press release here
11 February 2008 - "Kill Kill Faster Faster" receives its first market screening at the Berlin European Film Market on 11 February 2008.
03 February 2008 - Paul Morrison's "Little Ashes" is acquired by Regent Entertainment for North-America and Katapult Film Sales for all other international sales.
